The garden started as bare ground along the side of a stone house. It was dug out, given a proper sub-base, and laid in natural sandstone flags in a random pattern, curving around the lawn and along the house.

A curved raised bed in walling stone, edged in charcoal blocks, keeps an established tree and the planting, and a half-moon step leads up to the back door. Crisp edges to the lawn and the beds make the whole garden look finished.
